Euan Safey is a New Zealand-born conductor, pianist and teacher based
in Melbourne.
After completing an honours degree in piano performance, Euan spent two years as a New Zealand Symphony
Orchestra Conducting Fellow, learning under established Kiwi conductors and international touring artists,
whilst also working with countless community groups and local professional ensembles. He then studied orchestral
conducting under Dr Luke Dollman at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, frequently conducting the
Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and collaborating with visiting conductors. He also conducted the Adelaide Youth
Orchestras, several local choirs, and worked for both the Conservatorium and State Opera South Australia as a
conductor and pianist.
Euan is currently the Robert and Elizabeth Albert Conducting Fellow with The Australian Ballet. He is
also one of a select few conductors in the current cohort of the Australian Conducting Academy,
conducting professional orchestras around Australia, and he travels back to New Zealand periodically for
concert engagements.
